Pine essential oil is an excellent expectorant and one of the best options to clean mucus from the lungs, for sinusitis and bronchial diseases. It is tonic for the kidneys and the nervous system. Its penetrating action makes it useful in relieving fatigue and nervous exhaustion. Its tonic and analgesic properties make it a good choice for compresses and massage after an excessive effort in a sport or after a sporting accident.
On a psychological level, pine is a warming and cleansing. It stimulates the delicate energy and it is good to be burned before meditation to “clean” the space. Pine gives confidence and removes guilt, helping acceptance, tolerance and forgiveness.
Pine has cool, resinous high notes that resemble camphor and dry, sweet, balsamic, woody subchrome. It blends well with most other essential oils of wood and herbs, as well as with lavender and lemon (Farrer-Halls, 2007).
